It messes with smaller shipments of stuff quite a bit depending on what lane you use to bring it in. Larger shipments not so much, atleast not for us anyways it fluctuates 5-10% depending on time of year but that’s more to do with fuel costs and how much space is available on the ships, October through January is terrible time to be shipping anything sometimes see 25-30% increase, and then 1st half of March generally sucks. As far as tarrifs they went up some but it wasn’t nothing that couldn’t absorb just stopped doing big sales. The biggest issue with import right now is how long it takes to clear sometimes takes 2-3 days sometimes takes 1-2 weeks that’s what’s been the biggest pita honestly.
Has your primary market been for commercial grows? Or is it an even split for the home grower market?
Lol, I’m not judging I been high at about an hour, can always tell I start talking to much and probably saying more than I should….but idc lol
A lot more commercial stuff than home grow. There’s probably maybe 250-300 home growers using my lights if I had to take a conservative guess and probably 150-200 of them are around Kansas City and Saint Louis.
I actually follow a lot of Missouri grow groups and networking groups (my younger sister and my folks live in Saint Louis; they are transplants from North Dakota but they’ve been there for quite some time now.) I actually ALMOST bought a house in Fenton lol. It was between that and Colorado, and ended up with Colorado. That was back in 2017.
You have a data sheet for that driver? I haven’t looked at meanwell in a lot of years well before I ever officially did lights so they are far from fresh on my memory lmao. Anyways you’ll want to find out how many amps and what volts it is rated for for output, and then make sure you get bars that can run within those parameters.
For example my 800w fixtures use a 880w driver that has a max output of 20A. I run 8 bars at 2-2.1A generally and then 50V. The bars are connected in parralell so they run 16-16.8A total 2-2.1 x 8, and 50V at max load, well under the 20A limit, right at 800w so still 10% headroom in the driver, plenty of headroom on Max output voltage. Just make sure whatever strips you get to mount on there match the capabilities of your driver otherwise you’ll be buying a new driver too or start popping bars or strings of diodes or frying circuitry. All kinds of bad things can happen when you don’t match the right drivers to the configuration.
Colorado for the win. One of these days I’m going to relocate out that way.
Build a Soil is doing another big giveaway!!!
I still own a house out there; I miss the mountains man. It’s something else. The people are soooooooooo good there. I can’t describe or explain it, there is just a totally different “general vibe” there.
The first time I went to Crestone, CO, I told @Derek420Colorado I was heading there, and he’s like “oh bro. That’s a hippy town.” And I said “what’s that mean?” He said “you’ll know when you get there.” haha went on a weekend; I swear half the town walked around in purple CAPES and I actually saw a guy with a real scepter, and I felt like I was in a Grateful Dead music video that started but never ended haha! Everyone was so nice. It was such a cool little town to visit!
Do you know the Build-a-Soil guys?
I feel like we should get them involved here.
I follow the Soil King a bit.
I don’t know him nor have i ever talked to him, I’ve ran his soil plenty though and watched a fair amount of his YouTube videos. He had some of @Derek420Colorado seeds running and doing a series on them in a 2x4. Might ask him I’m sure he’s probably talked to him or had at least some kind of interaction with him lol.
Yeah I saw their grow with his genetics; I thought that was a cool nod!
If I can’t get Bioflower it was always build a soil and before he had anything to do with organics alive or atleast publicly anyways organics alive was always in my top 2 for nutrients when running soil. I’ve always gone back and forth between build a soil and Bioflower and growganica and organics alive and I’ve mixed and matched them all depending on who had what in stock when I needed some more of whatever, I’ve sense gone to the wet side though and I highly doubt I’ll ever do another serious soil run. Last run we had 2 plants in a 1/2 gallon and maybe a 1 gallon that just sat in a saucer and got moved around the floor to suck up any spills that may or may not happen sometimes
(little fuckers still gave 6oz between the 2 of them) but that’s about as soil as I get anymore
Ohhhh I see @Man-O-Green in the house!
That’s our esteemed site chef.
Now, if he’d only start INFUSING the dishes from his family cookbook recipes…
I need to figure out how to properly take plant material and get it into some coconut oil for pain relief lotion/rub thing. Ben just putting the leftover pucks from smashing into it some kinda way idk sister in law does it. It works good but think we could do better lol I might have some let me see
I can talk to Dan, their OPS manager. From what I understand they have their own discord, so it may not be that much of a stretch for them to make a presence here on a weekly basis or something.
